Saturday Just Starting Out
Previous Entry :: Next Entry

Saturday's walk is most notable for its quiet ambiance. People are not rushing off to work, for the most part, and the streets have perhaps one or two vehicles rumbling past. No school buses, either (I live right behind a school).

I saw a couple of cats on my morning walk. That's unusual, because by sunup they are, I guess, back in their yards or inside their homes (as Callie is). But today at one point I rounded a corner and there on a brick wall was a black cat with white feet. He was so close, I could have touched him.

He just lay there on the wall, front feet tucked into his chest, watching me curiously, but not at all afraid. Obviously his people treat him well and he has a trusting personality. He was so close--the wall come just up to my shoulders--that I practically bumped noses with him.

The walking person was in his territory, and he wasn't going to move.

I know some people like that.
