California has just launched online voter registration. "Voters whose signatures are already on file with the state's Department of Motor Vehicles can submit their voter registration forms to county elections offices electronically by visiting RegisterToVote.ca.gov."

If no matching signature is found, the applicant can click Print and mail it. Elections official contact the applicant when the voter registration application is approved or when more information is needed to confirm eligibility.

State Senator Yee (Democrat) authored the measure, saying that it is embarrassing that our voter participation is so low (just 44% of eligible Californians voted in the last presidential election) and we need to find ways to increase the rate of voting.

Take that, Ohio and Florida and Texas!
