I'm feeling good. Not perfect, since I don't believe in perfect, but good.

I hadn't realized how much stress was playing into my discomfort and too-high expectations of myself and others. In a staff meeting last week, a colleague gently told me I needed to relax about the progress a student was making, given the kid's very depressing home situation and the years he'd lived in it.

(angels singing - about me getting to relax, not about the kid's situation)

Another colleague this morning said if I just did 40% (I estimated 70%) of what other people do, I'd look like a really typical teacher. Wow. I guess my standards for myself are a bit lofty and perhaps unreasonable.

So here I am, saying good things about work, while one kid gets a five-minute reward of typing on the kid computer.

No perfect data, just perfect days.
