One of the kindergartners was walking down the hall to class. He's autistic, but does pretty well, and is often very cheerful. This was our hallway interaction (name has been changed):

Elsa: How are you?

Kid: I'm John!

E: I didn't ask who you are, I asked how you are. How are you feeling? (I didn't know he'd just been to see the nurse.)

K: I'm not sick. I had to go to the nurse because I was itching (points to groin) on both sides, here. (pause a beat, elated voice:) Lotion!

-----

Don't you wish you could solve your problems so easily, with such glee? I found out later that he walked into the nurse's office and promptly dropped trou without request or provocation. Ah, to be free.
