I resigned from teaching yesterday. I'll stay until the end of the year, but then I'm done with public education for the time being.

I haven't heard one negative reaction. Okay, colleagues crying is negative in one way, but they all say they are happy for me and that they understand.

I am going to whore myself out to Starbucks if possible, to get the benefits. I have a cushion if things get too tight. I won't consider moving off the island unless or until there is no other way to keep going.

My friend T put it eloquently this morning: "Flying squirrel, flying squirrel, there are always more trees! Good for you!"
