Long Day, revisited

Went to pick up the motorcycle from the repair shop in Tacoma today. Now, I realize I have friends over there who would likely have accommodated me by picking me up from the ferry dock and dropping me off at the repair shop, but I decided I needed an adventure.

Yeah.

In weather terms, if I'm not mistaken, "showers" means intermittent rain, perhaps of a not-so-torrential nature. I experienced pervasive, pelting rain that blinded me on Highway 16. Blinding rain at 60mph on a motorcycle leaves Miss Elsa a tad ticked off, not to mention blind. Uncomfortable, indeed.

I made it to all my errands and home on the ferry with nary an incident; Michael's for colored pencils, Marlene's Natural Market for cranberry pills (yup, and no lectures, I'm just prone) and lunch, and Cold Stone for a German Chokoladekake, like-it size. I am a food whore and I am ashamed of myself, and now I'm going to have a grilled-cheese sandwich, thank you very much.

I tried drying my summer-weight, perforated leather gloves under the hot-air hand dryer in the ferry restroom. Minor improvement. I got home, peeled off the wet leather and nylon and cotton that was my clothing, turned on the fake woodstove (propane), hung up the outerwear to dry over said stove, took a hot bath and promptly fell asleep for two hours in front of an ignored TV squawking Candice Olsen's Divine Design.

Now Star Trek (TOS) is on, and they're searching for Spock's brain. I'm headed back to the couch.
