Friday Night for Singles, a primer

"Clean mind, clean body; take your pick." - Lou Gottlieb of The Limeliters

It's the kind of Friday night when you have to acknowledge that you are tired. You've been going, going, gone for 5 or 6 days, and you never really recovered from last weekend. It's time for some pampering.

First come the sweetmeal digestive biscuits with brie, but only two, because more is overboard; and fresh strawberries, all from Tacoma Boys Market at 6th and Wellington. Someone in Tacoma knows the value of a good imported digestive. Bless you, Tacoma Boys.

Then comes comedy. Tonight it's Ha! from Halifax. Canadian comics are hysterical and just a little off. I like that in my comedians.

Next might be a hot bath and that new book. Tonight's selection is Michael Tolliver Lives, by Armistead Maupin. It is the story of Michael at age 55, told in his words. No guarantee that it will approach the brilliance of the first few stories in the Tales of the City series, but worth a leap of readerly faith. (Leap!)

Last, a bit of tidying and getting ready for tomorrow, some thought to the hike for Sunday, and perhaps a little nip before snoozing off with the above-mentioned good book.
