Had my first mammogram today. Huzzah!

Your questions answered:

Yes, they do squish your boob between two plates.

No, it didn't hurt. It just felt like pressure.

Yes, there is a history of breast cancer in my family; my mom's sister. Double radical mastectomy. In her late 40s, I think. No other folks I know of.

It was quick, professional, and a complete anticlimax. I celebrated nonetheless, at Quizno's, with a prime rib and peppercorn sandwich.

I felt like there should be a sticker. You know, when you vote you get the little red, white and blue "I Voted!" sticker. It follows that when you get a mammo, you should get a festive pink sticker with "I got a Mammogram!" on it.

But the sandwich worked. :-)
