I sang backup tonight with Michelle Shocked. Her performance here was part of a benefit for Island preparedness, and proceeds went to get generators for our youth and family services buildings as well as for the Voice of Vashon, our homegrown radio station that will be the primary source of info in an emergency.

If you haven't heard, she has been gospelling up a storm the last couple of years. The album is called 2HeavenURide, a take on "To Hell You Ride"; she played a show in Telluride at the Bluegrass Festival, and someone recorded it. Apparently "to hell you ride" is something Telluride folks say.

Did I mention I sang backup for Michelle Schocked tonight?

She was gracious and amazing, and guess what, ended with my favorite, "Memories of East Texas". I got to sing the lead a bit at the end while she sang harmony. It was an amazing evening.

Photographic evidence:

Me with Michelle, Jeanne, Marni and Robin, the local gals who ponied up to sing.

I sang. For Michelle Shocked. Tonight.

Wow.
