Whatever your faith, belief, credo, philosophy or lack thereof, see the documentary Jesus Camp.

The children in this film clearly don't have the sophistication of cognition to understand what they are being exhorted to repeat and to believe.

I have strong beliefs about where I came from and where I'm going. My beliefs absolutely do not include things like talking to seven-year-olds about abortion. Nor do they include speaking in tongues, or asking children to make decisions that are only meaningful if entered into with full consciousness and intellect. They certainly don't involve putting kids on a bus and involving them in an anti-abortion demonstration in political capitols.

It horrifies me to watch adults command children to pray a blessing over a stand-up cardboard cutout of George W. Bush, and then start speaking in tongues over it.

I have no problem, philosophically, with the right of parents to teach their children their faith. I do have a problem with adults working kids up to the point of sobbing hysteria over political issues that children can't understand and have no context for.

I pray for these people. Sincerely. In my way. It's what I have to confound this.
