Some time in the night, Landlady Extraordinaire unlocked the door. Good girl that I am, I called her this morning to thank her for doing this. Her reply was a sort of confused, "oh yes."

Then I got a few minutes of concerned discussion about "how, you know, I think those French doors can blow open if they aren't locked."

She's high. Yes if not properly latched, the doors will indeed blow open. But the lock only secures the door handle; there is no deadbolt. This kind of faulty logic is common with the LE. It approaches Pythonesque proportions on occasion.

Regardless, my neighbor and I are exchanging keys next time.
