My friend's dad, Wink Mays, passed away this October. I just got a letter from my friend saying his father had taken the Star Path.

Wink was a character. He was 19 years old when stationed on a Navy boat. He survived the attack on Pearl Harbor. He had amazing, staggering, disturbing stories to tell of that day.

Wink participated in a Washington State project to produce videos of war veterans for use in history classes. Go to http://www.wwiihistoryclass.com/frames/frm_video.html and click on Wink's name on the right side of the page, then choose a video. He's an interesting man. You'll see.

I spent a few barbecues just shooting the breeze with Wink, his son, and his granddaughter. We ate steak and stew together. One afternoon, when his son went to pick up Wink's granddaughter, Wink and I were left alone and got to talking.

He told me things about his life, his wives, his children. He told me things I don't know that my friend was aware of. he was a quiet, thoughtful man with deep convictions and a no-nonsense sense of duty, honor, and fun.

Tell us what you see on your Star Path, Mr. Mays. We're waiting for your new story.
