8:00am: pack laundry, massage table and SOAP folder into car and head out to Cajun's to do laundry and give Nanner a massage.

8:40am: arrive at ferry dock, and see an empty ferry and two nice WSF workers turning cars around. "Mechanical failure; hope to be back up by the afternoon." Turn around, spirits fair, and retrace the ten miles just driven plus three or four more. Call the massage guy and reschedule treatment for 5:00pm.

9:35am: depart Vashon for West Seattle. Drive south on I-5 to Tacoma to pick up lunch for N and me (Chevy's) and head for BFE.

Noon: arrive BFE and commence ta laundrifyin'. Get a call from neighbor to tell me that the water was finally on again at The Cove. And I had just pulled three whopping loads from the car. Oh well.

12:15pm: Nanners arrives home and we eat yummy fajitas and tomalito. More laundrifyin' while N did the paperwork for my massage homework (it ain't actually free, just close).

2:30pm: massage. Celtic music, candles, massage gel, and a very patient client. Good treatment work. She trusted my touch, for which I am grateful.

4:00pm: hit the road, Jack.

5:00pm: I get massage. Good work there, less trauma extant than expected. Woo hood.

6:20pm: PetSmart cat-food pick up. Top Foods grocery shopping.

7:00pm: realize that I can make the 7:20 ferry if I leave now.

7:14pm: arrive ferry dock to learn that the boat will be down until Monday. Turn around and get to drive the Narrows Bridge, a nice treat amid all the miles.

8:02pm: arrive Southworth Dock. Wait 30 minutes for ferry, during which time I clean and organize my car, now full of groceries in addition to the massage table, clothes, a sleeping bag, tire chains, trekking poles, and various other things that conspire to decrease my gas mileage.

8:30pm: embark from Southworth to Vashon, where I'm leaving the car clean-out for tomorrow, excepting the groceries. I hear there's the possibility of a shower. Let it be so.

Miles driven: approx 160.
Miles I would've driven if the ferry was running: 80.
Extra time this took: three hours, minimum.

And still I do it. Still I do it. (Name the bad 80s novel and miniseries that paraphrased quote is from, and earn 27 Scout points and a pan of Rice Krispies treats!)
