New learning for today:

The iPhone "harp" sound, when used as an alarm, will not penetrate Air Force issue green earplugs.

There is but one passenger-only boat from Pier 50 to Vashon on weekday mornings.

You are not allowed to load a bicycle onto the bus rack in the ride-free zone.

The driver of the 54 Metro bus will not wait for you to follow him to 2nd and Columbia.

Nice bikers will give you the time, and assure you that you haven't missed the 21 to Arbor Heights (which is a fine substitute for the 54, since you can ride downhill from the bus stop to the ferry dock in two minutes).

Your bicycle legs still work, even if your gear levers are halfway shot.

If you miss the 9:00 boat, and take the 9:25 instead, there is no bus connection on the Island. You get to ride up the mile-long hill, then the other half-mile-long hill. You know you can do it, you just hoped you didn't have to.

Oxygen feels gooooooood.
