Part-way Mountain (pics)

I hiked part way up Mt. Pickett today. If you are familiar with Orcas Island, you may know that Mt. Pickett is the smaller sister of Mt. Constitution, the highest point in the San Juans (or so I've heard). From Doe Bay, there is an access trail to get into Moran State Park, and you're right there on the smaller mountain. I only went about halfway up, as I had a massage to give at 4pm and didn't want to miss that.

I had a few nice peek-a-boo views of Orcas and Lummi Islands through the trees. I imagine the view from the top is much nicer!

Here are some pics, nothing spectacular, but they give you an idea of the nice hiking available here. More will be posted the next time I venture out and UP.

A trail map of Moran State Park. My trail intersects the Boundary Trail on the bottom right corner, about halfway up the straight-ish stretch, in line with the tip of the arrow that's pointing North.

This is where the access trail begins:

A wild rose and the trail:

Gotta remember to look up once in a while.

These will be sweet, little blackberries soon:

And here's the turn back to the access road:
