For the record, I faxed proof of income to Sallie Mae yesterday, as well as applied for both the income-sensitive repayment plan and an economic hardship deferment. If they'd given me the former in anything like a reasonable amount of time, I wouldn't have needed to ask for the latter. I also took my account off the auto-debit program. No more stealth withdrawals!

Yesterday, right around 4:10pm, "Samantha" told me that by faxing my proof of income that day, I had given SM enough lead time to apply the request before my next payment is due. SAMANTHA SAID, and now you all know it.

As I commented to the similarly beleaguered LisaMarie, I will faithfully report the hilarity which is certain to follow. Those folks at Sallie Mae are so organized, helpful and consumer oriented, I just can't imagine this going any way but smoothly.
