SUMMARY:

Remember my sneak-cret, about how, a few nights ago, I moved from my smelly cabin into my massage hut? Well after three nights of sleeping on my back with two pillows and the bolster under my lower legs, boy howdy, if my back hasn't started to feel better! If this is what I have to do to heal, I'm sleeping on my massage table at home.

Speaking of home, I am still looking for a roommate. If you know anyone who wants to live on the water, in a beautifully appointed, charming apartment with two slutty cats and a slightly less slutty woman (moi, of course!), please give them my contact information. Rent is $550, utilities are about $44 a month. The room on offer is about 10' x 12', upstairs loft, with half bath, pine floors and a large sash window with a partial view of the cove. Not to put too fine a point on it, but if I don't find a roommate by October, I've only got enough reserve to stay in my apartment a few months before I have to either prostrate myself before a school district, or move in with my parents. Oy vey, save me!

I've made some good friends here. Some may be coming to the party at my place on the 27th (y'all better be there), and if they are, you can meet them. A few of them will be lasting contacts on the tilt-a-whirl of life.

So, I'm just riding the wave to the shore. I go to my parents' in Arlington the night of the 8th, and then home to Vashon on the evening of the 9th. I've got free time (for the most part) until the 22nd, when I start working at Edmonds CC, so if you're in this area, please let's go hiking or just hang out. Get in touch. It will be good to catch up.

And to my instructor, you little sneak, thanks for showing up and letting me massage you. It was so good to see you, and to have that breakfast conversation. Your faith in me is a blessing.
FORECAST:

As far as I can tell, my future will hold both frustration and initiative. In the next few weeks, I need to print out numerous documents announcing my business and asking for referrals. I will go to the yoga studio and the health club and see if I can trade massage for membership. I am keen to figure out how to post a Word document for download on my website, so that people can fill out their health history and print it out prior to their first appointment. (If you know how, please enlighten me. There's a massage in it for you, although your airfare is not included.)

Later, as the months go on, I must look seriously at job prospects. Yes, that might mean going back to a school district job. I have some time to work on my attitude and approach so that I tend my own garden instead of tending everyone else's. Sound familiar?

But for today, I have only to massage the chef, put my rent check in the mail, and enjoy tonight's staff party.

L'chaim.
