My friends took me to Mt. Defiance today. Full reports and pics when I get home. I'm in the car on the way home, very tired, sore, and very happy.

Statistics:

Length: ten miles r/t

Difficulty: moderate to Mason Lake (mile 3.25); difficult to summit

Elevation gain: 3,700 feet

Scenery: mountain lake, waterfall, mountain ascent with scramble route on a boulder ridge, 360-degree view including Mts. Rainier, Baker, Adams, St. Helens, and Glacier Peak.

Noteworthy: highest peak anywhere to the west except for Olympic Range

Pics on the way after a ferry ride, a shower and a G&T.
