TGIF, uncharacteristically.

I'm not usually a TGIF kind of person. Yeah, I love the weekend, and the things I get to do, but I also love each day for its challenges, bullshit, and surprises. ScoutLand wouldn't be ScoutLand unless things were at least slightly askew.

First, I'm happy it's Friday because this has been a long week. I'm trying to re-establish boundaries with a client at work (professional/business friendly vs. too chatty), and that takes energy. Involve a third person who is passive-aggressive, but right on the money about my conduct, and you've got a minor mess. It will all be sorted out on Monday.

Tomorrow, I'm taking my dad for a ride, complete with his required Subway sandwich. My mom can do her field ministry if he's out of her hair. His caregiver was not available this weekend like usual. This ride falls under the why-I-moved-here category. It's fine.

I'm really looking forward to Sunday, when friends and I are hiking Granite Peak. They can go out on the promontory while I sit safe and watch. My legs go all googly when I only see the valley floor thousands of feet below me. It's not voluntary.

So, tonight I'll cook dinner with Mr. Chef (friend from Doe Bay) and watch a movie. Good times.
