Lest you think it all melancholic

It's not. I get in a funk, and I write. Often, that's the only time I can discipline myself, because the squirrel is in a whole different place.

Life is amazingly good:

WORK
I love my job. Nowhere else could I see more things, and hear more things, and learn more things than at this job. I can't repeat those things heard and seen, of course. But the learning sticks with me.

I heard from my friend Lance's sister Lisa that there is no other activity besides sign-language interpreting that requires the firing of so many synapses at one time. I believe it - using two langauges simultaneously isn't really possible unless the two languages are in different input/output modes, and ASL-to-English fits that bill.

(Now you know why, after those late-night shifts, the squirrel must be hit over the head with medications or libations.)

RELATIONSHIPS
What can I say? I have amazing friends and family members who take such good care of me. Nearly all of my needs are fully satisfied. Anything not accomplished through the love, grace, and understanding of the people in my life is my own responsibility.

SELF
Uh, well, I'm plugging along on that. :-)
