Work and Home

I am finally home from a 48 hr shift on the island. Not one single call in 48 hours. I did manage to accomplish a couple of things I've been putting off, although not work related. Jodi has started school, she has 3 classes and finishes before noon just about every day. We have decided that I will pick her up on the days I'm not working and we will eat a picnic type lunch and go to the YMCA. I'm looking forward to it. I think it will be good for us, can't hurt right?

Work is going well, I love working on the island. Even though we don't have a high call volume, we don't have to put up with all the whinning, complaining, political bullshit that goes on over on the mainland. All 4 shifts get along pretty well, we all do our jobs and don't whine and complain about the department or the county. I had an offer to transfer to the mainland, and after about two seconds of consideration, I declined. The only bad thing about the island is the hour and 10 minute drive, but lets face it, I usually only work 2 shifts a week and the drive is a small price to pay for contentment.

The new kitten has been named Smokey. She is fearless, not at all intimated by the bigger cats or the dog. She will stand nose to nose with any of them. She has the brightest blue eyes, the same color as my eldest son.

I've been listining to a book on tape (CD) Cold Mountain. Really good story. I rented the movie and it sucked compared to the book.

More later
