me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

They don't knight guitarists, man

The above overheard in a bar, a morose grad student ruminating on Keith Richards, Sir Mick Jagger, and the inequities of life.

It's true, recognition's hard to come by. It's true, work is hard, and it's true, fools rule. I've had some recognition this year and am grateful for it. But it doesn't make the work I did this morning any easier (or better). And fools still rule. I guess all we can do is keep working, hang around together, and try to keep the fools in check.
