me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Going away party

My office threw me a going away party the other night. Great party -- much laughing, eating, drinking. Speeches. Sui-Ling, whose birthday party I went to the other night, came, because she used to work at the same office, four or five careers ago. And they gave me a watch! A very cool skydive-to-skindive "chronometer." In case in my new life I need to do those things. 23 years working for this firm, finally decided it was time to write full time, no good putting that off any longer. My choice; they would have kept me until the cows come home. Actually came to the decision last September, only leaving now. Very very low-angle slope to this beach. Still, now that I'm finally not touching the ground, this water's awfully wide.
