me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Making myself clear

I have an opinion. A strong, passionate opinion. I'm going to vote, as I have in every election including primaries and school boards, since I was old enough. I'm going to give money. I'm going to demonstrate.

What I find I can't do anymore is get excited about the idea that if the people I consider the good guys win, that will mean any net gain for the future of the world. Them winning is better than them losing, because it may mean an improvement in lives for some people living right now. But as far as history moving in a forward direction -- what I believe Tony Kushner referred to in ANGELS IN AMERICA as the spiral up -- I no longer buy it. My comfort is people like Dan (and Warren) who do. All I can do is hope you guys are right. And luckily, about most things, I'm usually wrong. So there's a chance.
