me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

We're here

Yes, we can.

And oh yes, we sure did.

Will we be able to open a new chapter now? Can we live up to what we've been hearing today? Can we give what we've been asked to give, and if we do, will the world change in the ways we've been told it will change?

I don't know. But damn, if this guy, and the folks around him, and the way he and they run things, don't make me believe it could happen.

I was furious about the Rick Warren choice. But Warren's prayer was more inclusive than I could have hoped. More than his prayers usually are. I want to believe the Obama team pushed him, made him do that. This crowd, this President's crowd, may be, among them, a true sea change in our political world. Smart, broadbased, inclusive, in touch.

I'm hoping.
