me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

The Japanese Maltese Falcon!

Hey, I just won the Maltese Falcon Award from the Maltese Falcon Society of Japan! It's for WINTER AND NIGHT, which came out here in 2003 but in Japan in 2008. The award -- which apparently is a carved wooden falcon, winging its way to me as we speak -- is for what the Maltese Falcon Society votes "the best hard-boiled/private eye novel published in Japan in the previous year." Past recipients include Cormac McCarthy, Michael Connelly, Sue Grafton, George Pelecanos, Don Winslow, and Lawrence Block. How cool is that?
