me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Better weather

At least, bright sun, cold, but mild breezes, no strong wind. Probably this IS better, though personally, I like all weather. I like the IDEA of weather, of vast swings and changes, of powerful effects of many types. Which is why, though I love southern California, I'm not sure I could live there. I must admit, though, I don't do well in long stretches of rain and gloom. I need those photons. So I walked back uptown from an appointment this afternoon, about two miles, just to get some sunshine. Didn't see much debris or damage from yesterday, even in the stay-inside zone. Up here in my neighborhood, aside from a few small branches down, the funniest storm effects this morning were the trails of pine needles washing into the street from the Xmas trees that had recently gone to the curb. Yes, they're still coming out. My favorite storm effect, though, was the knocking out of power to the giant red neon W on the hotel across the river. I've gotten used to that thing, but it still makes me gleeful every time something goes wrong with it.
