me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Bill Reinka, R.I.P.

Want to take a minute to remember Bill Reinka, whose death a few days ago I just learned about. Bill was a reviewer and a great lover of the crime genre. I met him in Portland, OR, many years ago. He did a few features on me for various publications, was a big reader of this blog and in fact was a runner-up in the ARC contest. (He was the one who said the lighthouse was from the Chinatown miniature golf course.) He was working on a book lately, contacted me now and then with NYC-related questions. Bill was a terrific, generous, warm but not sappy guy -- a great sense of humor and a great sense of how little can be done about the world's constantly knocking you down except to get up again. As long as he could, Bill did.

Bill, in the immortal words: Here's looking at you, kid.
