me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Last night at the Center for Fiction

Really good event last night with Alafair Burke at the Center for Fiction. People came I wasn't expecting (one all the way from Shangahi!) and I learned some fascinating stuff from Alafair about presenting witnesses to a jury, and art world financing. I love that about writing, and used to love it about architecture: all the stuff you get to learn about worlds you don't live in.

On the way home, got off the bus at 14th and 9th, where the Apple store is. Was taken by surprise by the memorials for Steve Jobs. People have brought flowers, candles, and apples (some with a single bite taken out). The store obviously supplied yellow sticky pads when it saw people taping notes to the glass, and now there are hundreds of little square tribute notes. It was moving, and as I say, to me, unexpected.
