me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Ostia Antica

On our last day in Rome we went out to Ostia Antica, which had been the port for thousands of years until the river changed its course. The mosaics are astonishingly well preserved. I'm not much of a one for ancient history or archeology (sorry, Dana) but I'm a sucker for beautiful and this is beautiful.

More, as usual, on Flickr. Note: I contemplated tinkering with the contrast to make more startling photos. But I left them as is. This is Ostia on a cloudy day, as we saw it.
