My brand new kitchen

Wowsa. I wanna sing and dance.

A sink!
One big deep tub on the right and one shallower one on the left, with a disposal. All bright shiny brand new black Whirlpool appliances: dishwasher, microwave, oven/stove/range, refrigerator with filtered cold water and ice in the freezer door, and a trash compactor. Whew.

We picked them all out in February but couldn't have them delivered until the new vinyl flooring was installed,a bit over a month ago. Then the bathroom was just tiled the week before last, I sealed the grout and polished up the new tile yesterday then my son installed the baseboards just last night so a toilet and pedestal sink can be put in place, maybe yet today.

It's beginning to look like a home instead of a half-done here and half-done there construction site, at long last.

Hallelujia.

The room is huge, with three clerestory windows 15 feet above the sink and counters on the north wall. Three additional windows are just above the sink and counters at floor level. Light streams in through the tall pair of pines just outside just in the front of these windows about 4 or five feet away. It will be a beautiful view come winter with snow in the branches up top.

There are two remote controlled ceiling fans. One has the dual function of heater and cooling fan. It is hung above the sliding glass doors that look out into the yard on the south and at a beautifully matured maple tree having a diameter of about 45 inches at hugging height. We plan a deck that will span that back wall and go some 20 feet or more so we can lie on it on the hammock whose steel pipe base is 16 feet long.

So much has changed. So much more yet to do.
