I just spent the better part of an hour sitting on my front porch and trying to figure out what was going on just a bit up the road that would require the presence of four cop cars. No medical units, but after about half an hour a big tow truck arrived.

There's a stop sign 1/4 mile down the road and all the cars hit their sirens briefly as they neared it. That, of course, got my attention. So, there were four cars with their red, white and blue strobes strobing away. And then the tow truck was festooned with yellow lights, some of them flashing. All that was needed a green to keep it totally seasonal.

The cats joined me on the porch and also watched the flashing lights.

My "conclusions" about the activity are that there seemed to be a pickup in a driveway (or ditch) that shouldn't be there. It's hard to tell in the dark, but it looked sort of like one that has an owner at that house. But who knows--maybe he no longer lives there and was no longer welcome. We'll probably never know on that one.

It's little things like this that make it a little less of an IUD.

(And it's past time to hit the sack.)
