The last day I worked in 2006 I started doing an inventory of the processing room, which is where donations get stored until they get processed. What with Katrina and all sorts of stuff getting wet and having to be professionally dried the contents of the room are a bit of a mystery.

So--my job is to see what boxes are there, give the collection of boxes for each topic a number, then take a quick look inside to get an idea of just what needs to be done. The final task is to fill out a bright blue form and attach it to the box, then list the shelf number of the box in the master notebook. (And in one area the shelf numbers, from top to bottom, are M1, M3, M2, L2, L3.)

My goal is to finish the inventory this week, even if I work four days instead of my usual three.

Tomorrow I think I'll take a closer look at a set of three boxes filled with political stuff. If one of our student workers is a poli sci major, s/he would get a lot out of processing this box.

Lady cat is turning into quite the nighttime cuddler. I wonder if the 30-something temps the last few nights have anything to do with it? She seems to be sticking to daylight for her outside time, but then it's easier to be a Mighty Hunter in the daylight. I doubt she'll go after the possum--it's about twice her size.

Let's see--I did manage to get the taxes in by the extension time, but I have yet to do the holiday cards. And four days from now Carnival season starts. I wonder if King Cakes have a daily (or almost daily) presence in this office. They did at Xavier.

Over the break I got a start on the five books YD gave me. I already finished one and am halfway through the next one in the series. Author is C. S. Harris. I was telling someone at the Center about her books--and the fact that she's local. I'll take the one I finished in tomorrow to share with some of them. I figure I'll have read the four mysteries in three weeks at the most. (It's not like there's much exciting on TV.)

Mailbox should be overflowing tomorrow, thanks to three days without mail. It will no doubt be mostly bills and ads.

Yeah--today was anothehr IUD.
