I've read all the journals on my daily list, and now it's my turn.

Two of the journals involve someone who has, or had, cancer. And a longtime friend's husband is in the hospital for a second batch of chemo for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I've got my fingers crossed for so many people it's a miracle I can type!

A brighter topic is needed . . . . Gorgeous day today--just touching 70. And the night will call for blankets, which means I will probably have curled-up cats on me to keep the blamkets from blowing away. Or something.

The book I'm currently reading is an Iraqi woman's diary--from 1991. The steady bombings meant no electricity, which meant no refrigeration. And water was often too scarce to use for flushing. This woman and her family were fortunate--they had an orchard, which became, as she put it, "the loo." It was good for the trees. (The book is currently in my bag in the other room, but I'll pass along the title in a day or so.)

As I drove home this afternoon I had NPR on and learned that there is absolutely no energy saving accruing from Daylight Savings. In fact, gasoline consumption goes up. Why? Because it's light later and people are more likely to go shopping while it's still light. Retail sales figures confirm this.

And has anyone noticed the irony of "Standard" time being half as long as "Daylight Savings Time?"

I wonder what electronic stuff will be aware of the change in the change time. Guess I'll know this coming Sunday when I look at my phone and computer.
