My homecoming was anxiously awaited by my little cat. She had settled on the 2 x 4 top (about 5' high) rail of the fence, right by the driveway so she could see me coming down the road. I usually get home about an hour later on Thursdays, so I'm sure she was wondering what was keeping the Opener of Cans of Yummy Cat Food. She knows my routine, and that there are a couple of things I must do rather urgently before I turn into Servant Of Felis Domesticatae.

Beautiful day today. A little fog on the way in, but not enough to slow things down and bring out the crinkle-fender players.

When I got to work I saw a woman in the library, and an empty stroller behind her. The door was locked, but I have a key. A few minutes later the archivist came downstairs carrying a baby. She talked briefly to the mother and then took off with the baby in the stroller. When they got back the mother was about finished with what she'd been doing, so Susan (archivist and my "boss") had to give the baby back. That's a fringe benefit of hanging around the Women's Center library, I guess. Someone will usually play with your baby while you're working.

Next week should be pretty chaotic--it's the annual used/surplus book sale. I snagged one book today--there were two copies in the box, so I "traded" a couple of mine that were in there somewhere for this one. Title is The Golden Ass and it looks like a fun read.

Next week I MUST stay away from the book displays! And tomorrow, before I leave, I need to get my carrel solidly tidied up. It's unlikely that book sale people will get that far into the library, but nevertheless . . .
