Sweaty Work

I began with cleaning the cat box in the bathroom. There's not a whole lot of air circulation in there, so the humidity took its toll.

However, when I moved to the "clean porch" item on my to-do list the sweating really started. But I got all the spilled dirt from the dried out, plantless, flowerpots up from the floor, and I managed to get almost all of the pieces of very aged plastic bags (that formerly held plastic garlands) and said garlands swept up. And then I cleaned the front porch cat box. It wasn't too bad, but the cats had redistributed a fair amount of the litter to locations outside the box.

By the time I finished all that I had sweat almost enough to need to get the mop and wet-mop the floor.

I showered (cold) the sweat off me, then headed out. I had to see if a particular prescription could be renewed fully or only partially before I took off. The woman checked and said my insurance had okayed it. And then I remembered that I had forgotten to stop by the used book store on the way to get a mind-candy book to read. If I had taken the mail out of the box on my way out I'd have found a box with three new mysteries in it. But the books I bought are by authors I've read before and like. (Cathy Reichs and Tess Gerrittson--and I'm not certain about either spelling.)

Then it was cool-off time at PJ's, with my iced decaf, easy ice, skim milk. And the Reichs book.

Finally, I started out to the WalMart area, but I quickly discovered that the traffic in that direction was stop-and-slow. I made quick decision and did a U-turn, doubled back a bit, then headed for the interstate. I'm pretty sure I made better time that way. Anyway, it was a lot less aggravating.

WalMart had the new Harry Potter for $2 off. Of course, I haven't read #5 and #6. I think I'll see if Amazon has any good bargains in used editions of those. (#5 went to my step-grandson when he was in Afghanistan, rather than to me.)

Just as I got home today the pet sitter called. And as I got out of the car Lady came over--with something furry in her mouth. She re-caught the mouse a couple of times then went under the house. Nothing like fresh rodent for supper--better than that canned stuff. Needless to say, she was quite proud of herself--and I praised her enthusiastically.

I never did get around to outdoor stuff today so I can "look forward" to that tomorrow.
