Thanks to the wonder of trained electrons, the whole rehiring process was completed in about an hour (I was still in the system) and my first day handouts are now sitting on my desk, according to the e-mail from the secretary.

When I got back from PJ's and some shopping I found a bunch of e-mails waiting for me verifying all the stuff from the noonish phone conversation.

Now I have to get my body back to where it will get up--and get moving--at a rather early hour. I like to leave the house no later than 6:30 AM, and preferably a bit earlier. This change in routine is going to disturb the heck out of the cats. The human will not be available for sleeping by or on as long as they like.

(I wonder if I still have the code for using the fancy copier at work. And I wonder if it still works.)

Things will finally feel the "new normal," but with a lot of the old in there.
