Cat, who is not known for overexertion, is now draped across the sweater I tossed on the end of the couch. I'm sure he'll shift position once I settle down in there again. That will account for about a third of his average daily activity.

I got some more weeding done and the detritus tossed in the pond to keep the turtles from reptile boredom.

And then it was time to sally forth to the voting location. I was concerned about lines and my inability to stand too long. I needn't have worried. There was no line at all when I arrived around 3 PM. The (now-retired) Slidell librarian was working the polls, along with another old friend I'd met via the library (and the Channel 12 auction, as I recall.) We were able to chat a bit before another voter came along. I'd wondered how old friend #2 had done (with Katrina), because the area she lives in had substantial water. She and her husband now have a FEMA trailer parked next to the librarian's house. That answers that question.

Tonight's TV is outstandingly boring--election returns. Not much will be known till about 10 PM. (The polls are open till 8 PM.) Guess I'll get some reading done.

This afternoon I got last Friday's vocab quizzes all graded, so I am almost up to date on the grading.

My "kakistocracy" bonus challenge was taken up by the majority of the students. I think next time I'll give them a couple of bonus points if they can tell me who Mae Jemison is.

So now it is back to being a cat pillow and reading some piece of mind candy.
