When I got home this afternoon and headed for you-know-where the first thing I noticed was a brown pile on the bathroom carpet. Yes--I thought it was the same thing you're thinking it was. But, we're both wrong. I wondered at the bit that seemed to be oozing out one side.

I grabbed several chunks of toilet paper, but as I got closer I discovered it was a corppse and not a pile of cats***.

Someone had left me a dead mouse--and left it where I would be sure to see it. It was a fairly good sized one, and I'm glad to know the household has a Mighty Huntress.

But I rather wish that Mighty Huntress would eat her trophies.

Then again, maybe not. With my luck she'd throw it back up.

And Emma was there, along with Lady, to greet me when I got home.

(I wonder what the monster cat thought about the mouse corpse in the bathroom.)

It took me an hour and a half to get in to work this morning. That's half again as long as I usually need. There had been an accident on the Twin Spans so a bunch of traffic had detoured onto the old highway and bridge. And then there were problems near the High Rise. I don't think I shifted for about 20 minutes. I was lucky and there were still a couple of prime parking spots left when I finally made it onto the campus.

But I think I'd better get gas on the way in tomorrow. Another tie-up like today and I might be cutting it close if I didn't.
