The first drops of evening "showers" just spattered against the house. I've been expecting rain all day, and even took an umbrella into PJ's this afternoon. Granted, it was one of those that fold several times and end up about 7" long, but it was the thought that counted.

When I took the trash to the front of the driveway this morning I was escorted by two cats--Lady and Emma. They seem to be becoming somewhat more companionable, although they never did actually scrap when Emma first arrived.

The funny part came when a medium-sized dog from down the street started to head my way. The cats sat in the middle of the road and just stared at him. The dog decided he didn't want to walk this way after all.

Years ago I watched as my two cats practically drove a yappy dog nuts. They angled themselves so that the dog couldn't keep track of both of them at once. And then they just sat there.

These cats had another cute anti-dog trick--they knew just how far the dog's lead would let him go, and they stayed about a foot away. They had an expression of "what on earth is the matter with that silly dog?"

The rain spattering has stopped, but based on the weather radar that is just temporary. A cold front is coming in. I hope the rain will be over by drive time tomorrow morning.

Since it's now March I guess it won't be very long till the airwaves are taken over by the NCAA tournament known as "March Madness." Well, the programs they pre-empt aren't anything to write home about, even with the writers' strike over.

Guess I'll be getting a lot of reading done.

Incidentally, my current "read" is shaping up nicely--it's the first in James Patterson's Women's Murder Club" series.

And that's it for today.
