Interstate: totally blocked

The news was not good as I headed in to work--the westbound lane of I-10 had two out of three lanes closed because of a large truck breakdown.

It didn't take too long before I was in the stop-and-slow mode--with three or four miles yet to go.

Everybody was patient, but the delay added about 45 minutes to my usual 55 minute drive.

I tried to console myself by reminding myself that there would be no slow down for the high rise (and there wasn't) but all I could think about were the parking spots nearest where I work filling up.

I was lucky--I had only a half block more to walk.

And there was a bunch of guys standing on the steps of the building, waiting for me to unlock the doors.

They know my car, and that I have keys and an alarm code.

They MAY be done--this afternoon the librarian and her student workers rolled the plastic "curtains" back up and so once again the stacks are visible and readily accessible.

And I have just about finished the collection of the Dean's papers.

Fortunately, the drive home was uneventful. There weren't even any speeding idiots. Of course, I took the old bridge, so the sign on the interstate bridge saying "One Lane Only" was of no concern to me.

I spotted Emma again this afternoon in the tall grass between my house and my neighbor (with the old dog and at least six cats).

The dry cat food on the porch step was NOT all gone this morning--I wonder if the possum who usually cleans it up has become occupied with little possums. And there were still a couple of dog biscuits left. Same question about the raccoons.

Time will tell.

It was cold last night, but I had a two-cat blanket. Big time--25 lb. Fabian and 7 lb. Lady.

I just hope that any driving idiots that like to play bumper cars will not do it tomorrow on my commuting route during my commuting hours.
