Found It!

Yesterday afternoon I started looking for the power charger for the batteries for my new weed whacker. I KNEW it was somewhere in the den. I thought I had put it near the strip (outlet) by the TV, but no sign of it. I did remove several colonies of dust bunnies, but no charger. I tried at another den outlet, but no sign of it there either. (Killed some more dust bunnies there.)

This morning I started looking again, and this time I found it--tossed on the chair by that second outlet. The chair tends to be a catch-all, but this had tried to burrow down and hide from me.

So the battery should be about charged by now (it takes eight hours) and tomorrow--barring rain--I shall tackle the tall stuff again.

I tried the Black and Decker web site for info on ordering another one, but it was MASSIVELY unhelpful. I was giving serious thought to buying another battery-operated gizmo (this time a branch lopper) to thus acquire another charger.

Then I spotted it.

Well, I was all set to go out, so I did some quick calculations and decided I could get to WalMart before the electric carts were gone and thus restock the larder.

I was right and I'm probably in good shape foodwise.

You meeet the most interesting people in the pet food section. It ended up being three of us talking about our pets. One woman was buying sunglasses for her dog--for a picture. Another woman was excited to find out they were available there. And that woman had also had raccoon visitors, but not a very bold little possum.

Afternoon was the usual--OPAC and reading. I finished the third of the Priscilla Royal mysteries. Tonight I'll start on #4. They are quite good and I highly recommend them.

I got home just as the rain started, so I guess that all in all, it's been a pretty good day.

River traffic is still quite limited. There are a lot of longshoremen without work at the moment, and it won't be too long before people upriver and throughout the US find a bunch of items--in addition to fuel oil--a bit scarce.

I've concluded that the people mucking out the swamps were probably guests of the city. They also do (or used to) litter pickup along the interstate and after Mardi Gras parades.

Since the cats have made themselves in-and-out cats I've stopped putting out bird seed. And there have been fewer birds since Katrina. It's rather nice having the nest by the AC--I just hope mama and daddy bird explain to their children about Cats.

I think it's going to rain off and on for a while. That will make for good sleeping.
