Work today got spent analyzing what could and couldn't get wet if it flooded again. (The library had 17" of water after Katrina--and it's about five feet above street level.)

We won't have a better idea of what's ahead for a couple of days. But----evacuation plans are going forward, registering people who need a ride out IF. And the animal shelters are making plans to relocate their animals. I may give the one my girls (feline) came from a call and maybe help move animals.

The cops are getting ready to put up traffic cones in case the interstates need to be made one way. (That's what's called contraflow. And it works pretty well.)

Other than the what if? planning, today was relatively ordinary. I got off to work early enough that I encountered zero traffic slowdowns. Part of that was the hour, and part of it was no stupids.

I do plan on going in to work tomorrow. I'm in the appeals my subject made, and I'm reading all sorts of legal stuff. There was a huge argument over whether the time limit had passed for an appeal, and that took up about three inches of file space. IMHO she really did get a raw deal, but I don't think it was only because she was a woman. I'll ask my lawyer friend about some things the next time I see her.

My mornings are never relaxed on work days, and this morning I had to squeeze in refilling the dry cat food dispenser. It was almost empty, and I don't think it all went into my cats. I'm pretty sure Pogo pigged out in the middle of the night.

You cannot say that I have territorial watch cats--they just are friends to other four-footed species. Maybe it's because I rescued them from the shelter they figure I'm a soft touch for animals?

Getting dark already and it's just past 7:30. And I'm halfway to work in the morning before I turn off the headlights.

Since I swore not to watch either of the conventions I guess tonight will be "Clean House." That show makes me feel my house is ready for a "Better Homes and Gardens" photo shoot!

Remember--exhale facing south to keep Gustav away.
