I got up nice and early and left for work at the "usual" time (0600-ish). But I was barely three miles from home and the traffic was NOT moving--except for the cars who were turning around to find another route. When I saw that a) the railroad crossing lights were flashing, b) the gates didn't appear to be down, c) the traffic on the street I was headed for was not moving, and d) an increasing number of number of cars were turning around--I decided that I would also turn around, but head back home. I've been caught in these tie-ups and they can add more than half an hour to commute time.

I'll go in to work tomorrow.

And I'll probably never know what the problem was. I called it in to the traffic people, but was home before they mentioned it on the radio.

And yes--I have the traffic number on speed dial.

So I did stuff around the house then headed for PJ's in the afternoon. I had a couple of prescriptions waiting for me, and the pharmacy I use is right behind PJ's.

I picked up my mail as I headed out and it had a new book for me.

It's The Heretic Queen, by Michelle Moran. I read for a couple of hours, and plan to read more this evening.

I don't think the temperature today got over 85. Those two storms seem to have ushered in some fallish weather. (And my joints feel better with the higher atmospheric pressure.)

So, other than the 6 AM change of plans, it was an IUD.
