No, I'm not going to watch tonight's mud-wrestling event.

Today's Times-Picayune had an ROFL editorial cartoon.

It shows LA Congressman William Jefferson seated at his desk, with a newspaper headlined "BANKS FAILING."

(A bit of background--this congressman is currently under investigation about why he had almost $100,000 in his home freezer. He also led in the Congressional primary last Saturday.)

Caption: "Why did I put $90,000 in my freezer?"

Answer to self: "Foresight."

(S.Kelly is the cartoonist.)

Today was pretty much of a nothing day. I did do some cleaning in the den, especially of fans. And I did a bit of de-junking, and in the process found some books I'd bought from Dover a while ago which I'd forgotten about. (Okay--reword that senetence, since a preposition is something you never end a sentence with.)

....bought from Dover, about which I'd forgotten.

I spent much of the afternoon at PJ's and got some significant reading done. Geek reading, which means my list of citations from this particular book will lead me to several others. I'll check on their availability at the Women's Center library and then scout out cheap used copies of others.

I left just as it began to rain. When I turned up my street I saw either fog or really heavy rain in the near distance. It was the latter--and it called for wipers on high. Fortunately, it was a small patch of torrential and was down to normal rain by the time I was in my driveway. I did, however, park catty-wampus so I had a MUCH shorter distance from the car to the patio cover.

And that's about it for yet another IUD.

Political commentary follows.
