Yes, this morning I lit the furnace pilot. And now I can get up and get going in the AM without yielding to the temptation of an afghan and two cats.

This no doubt means that the weather will warm up for a while.

I also started refrigerator hunting. I stoped at an appliance place but didn't see anything I liked. The color choice they offered was white or white. I really don't like the thoughts of a white side of the fridge readily visible from the den.

When I got to PJ's I ran into my lawyer friend and we talked about the problem. She said something about a pretty paint. I'd also considered painting that den-facing side.

Contact paper would be another thought, but that's sort of tacky--and not just in the adhesive meaning.

The fridge is still running and cooling and making only small noises.

Next stops will be Home Depot and Lowes.

There is now silence from the hall--I guess Pogo has finished part one of his evening meal.

I was talking to a Humane Society lady this afternoon and telling her about Pogo. And also about how my cats are proving their worth via rodent-killing. Humane society people take things like half a mouse under the piano as perfectly natural. And when I told her about Pogo she asked if I know a particular person who sort of "specializes" in critter care. And yes, I do--and I once got a cat from her.

So--not an exciting day, but interesting.
