I found someone to do the bit of plumbing needed to detach the old fridge.

The plumbing supply place, which was going to be Stop 1, is no longer where it used to be. (Probably a Katrina casualty.) So, I headed to the Ace Hardware, where I bought a couple of long measuring tapes. (I can't find the ones my husband had in the garage.) And then I talked to the nice lady (one of the owners) at the cash register, and asked her if she knew anyone blah blah blah--and I was perfectly willing to pay cash.

She turned to a young man at the counter (possible a relative--it's a family business) and he came over and I repeated the quiet conversation.

He's definitely interested and will probably do it tomorrow.

(I wonder what else he's handy with?)

So, I should have everything in order (refrigeration-wise) by early next week.

I have solved the "problem" of the den-facing side of the fridge. When I started removing magnets I discovered that I had more than half a dozen really pretty ones from the New Orleans Museum of Art. They are now on that side, and I shall add others that are decorative. I think there are several that can be tossed--like a Burger King one--and those remaining can go on the inward facing side (the side next to the stove.)

And on the interior of the home front--Lady went and got her own breakfast today--mouse. I'm not sure why she eats it in front of the throne, and I do wish she had eaten the stomach(?) also. I just let her be--I prefer not to watch--and when she was done all that was left was a non-bloody internal organ which I presume was the stomach.

It is nice that woman are blessed with strong stomachs--not only do they have the problem of chldren that take two years to get housebroken, somehow they also seem to get to do the clean-up of other yucky things.

I am one happy person, now that the plumber thing is taken care of.

Not only that, but next week it won't be pitch dark for my drive into New Orleans. (And the earlier sundown will be a good excuse to leave a bit earlier, if I want.)
