. . . with fingers crossed.

But today I have internet again!!!

I still need the computer people to come and clean stuff up that has no doubt accumulated without any effort on my part.

I'm pretty good at not opening strange mail, and especially not clicking on links--especially dubious ones.

Granted, it took FOREVER to get connected, and for that reason alone I shall start nagging at the computer people about a cleanup/fixup/etc. Besides, they'll (probably) know if I should go after Charter again.

Today was a slightly productive day--I got the older of the two current burn piles burning. Last time I looked out there was just a small orange glow there.

And then a little bit later I heard sirens screaming in my general direction.

I checked again and the pile was not flaring up or anything--and the siren noises were headed up the highway.

When I figured it had burned down enough for me to go inside I left the rakes leaning against the front porch and the hose connected to running water. (The hose nozzle is turned off.)

The other burn pile has a bunch of just-cut-down pine treelets in it. When the needles start going brown I'll fire that one.

I do not plan on going in to work till Tuesday or Wednesday. And that reminds me that I really should check the Tulane calendar for the spring semester dates.

Tomorrow really marks the end of the holiday season.
