RAIN !!!

Nothing like a torrential rain to make small animals very friendly. Once they have food in their bellies, they want to be close to humans. Even big one-time tom cats.

It's beginning to let up, and that will probably be it for the rest of the evening and night.

I put the raccoon biscuits on the steps, instead of the patio (which gets puddly in heavy rains) and put extra leftover wet food in dishes on the porch.

No, I don't spoil the critters.

Anyway, it hasn't been much of a day for excitement or anything similar. I did manage to get the paper and mail before the rain started, so that's a definite accomplishment.

Tomorrow I am going to have to a) buy another trash can with a wheels on it and b) go out front to the ditch and get all sorts of bottles and that kind of trash out of it. I don't know why it's suddenly full of stuff like that, but it is. I think I'll paint big orange triangles on the trash can, so people will know I'm out there, messing around with the ditches. If I leave them alone the parish will eventually send out ditch diggers, which are systematically eaating away the shoulders of the road.

And as long as I have the bright spray paint, maybe I'll mark the edge of the paved area too--at least along my property and by the mailbox.

But that's tomorrow.

And, judging by the weather maps, it should be fairly dry and clear. Maybe somewhat cooler, but when you're working outside rain is a significant deterrent.

Wait!! I think I hear a sound of outdoor silence. And the sky is brighter--showing the sunset, sort of.

But it's still too wet and puddly to go out unless I have to.

I don't think the critters will be upset at the extra food.
