Comments from a bayou area resident regarding the latest debacle.

The oil gets closer and closer to the coastline. The shrimpers and fishermen (who will have nothing to fish for at the rate things are going) are being rounded up to help with the attempts at containment.

And the oil well is still gushing out some ridiculously large amount--fifteen thousand gallons--of oil every day. I'm not sure how they plan to take care of that "little" matter.

If you were planning a vacation along the northen Gulf coast . . . maybe you should change those plans.

It's really quite interesting to listen to the TV and the people talking about the problems. However, I'd much rather not have this particular bit of education.

All I can say is that we'd better not have a hurricane for several years--this is enough disaster.

This morning was a "this and that" time. I cleaned the cat box--and then discovered that I had enough fresh cat litter to fill the box to about a quarter inch depth. (Thank goodness Spots uses the great outdoors.)

So, it was off to WalMart for more cat litter--plus some other stuff.

Should have made a written list--got everything EXCEPT the cat litter. CC still uses the box most of the time, even though she spends time outside.

Back to a store for more litter. This time I went to Sav-a-Lot, which has some good stuff on sale this week. It's not as cheap as WalMart, but it's a lot less crowded and has some stuff that WalMart doesn't. And they have a motorized cart. WalMart does too, but there weren't any available when I went there this morning, and by the time I finished my hip and back were Not Happy. I made sure I thanked the manager for having said cart--I spent more money.

While I was there I ran into someone from church. We probably talked for a good ten minutes.

CC just realized that Spots is under the table. Now is probably a good time to quit.
